The Pony Sweat Show
What is Pony Sweat?
Pony Sweat is a fiercely noncompetitive dance aerobics project created by Emilia Richeson-Valiente and directed by Emilia and Michella Rivera-Gravage. We are inspired by queer-punk-feminist thought, music-fandom, and collective effervescence. Our goals are to cultivate freedom of movement and thought, to take care of ourselves and to take care of each other. Come as you are, all ways, always!
Pony Hxstory
Since its inception in 2014, Pony Sweat has held weekly classes in northeast L.A, created artful aerobics videos, and toured to metro and rural parts of the U.S performing at dozens of punk shows as well as Coachella and Just Like Heaven festivals. Emilia has choreographed and contributed Pony Sweat routines to music videos for Alice Bag, Hunx + His Punx, Scrunchies band, Shark Toys, Hayley Williams, and Wallows band. We devote organizing efforts towards social justice movements through our activism leg, Ponies Against Fascists (P.A.F)
Pony Sweat has been a meaningful influence to the mainstream fitness industry’s more recent shift toward centering mental health and body-neutrality, however Pony Sweat continues to be committed to the fringes of that industry, and makes its work dedicated and in service to freaks and weirdos always and forever <3.
